The Vogue is one of the last single-screen movie theaters in San Francisco. It opened in 1910 as the Elite Theatre at 3290 Sacramento Street, became the Rex in 1919 and the Plaza by 1932, and reopened as the Vogue in 1938 after a Moderne-style remodel, with Katharine Hepburn in Bringing Up Baby on the screen.
Today it shows a mix of new releases, foreign and independent film, classics and special events, including National Theatre Live broadcasts. Since 2007 it has been owned by the nonprofit San Francisco Neighborhood Theater Foundation, which keeps it running as a neighborhood theater.
